The participants of Onko Olimpiada (Onco-olympics) were children from oncological centres in Poland, Romania, Lithuania and Slovakia. This year’s event was sponsored by Herbapol.
On 18–21 August the seventh edition of Onko Olimpiada took place at the University of Physical Education in Warsaw. It was organised by Fundacja Spełnionych Marzeń [Dreams Come True Foundation]. Those who participated were children who have won their battle against cancer. The participants, some of whom came to Warsaw from Romania, Lithuania and Slovakia, competed in several sports disciplines: swimming, badminton, shooting and sprinting. The ambassadors of the event included the following Polish sports and TV celebrities: Otylia Jędrzejczak, Agata Młynarska, Małgorzata Foremniak and Agnieszka Włodarczyk. “The goal of our initiative is to help children rebuild their self-worth and regain self-confidence. They’re already won the most important battle — now they can fight for medals,” said Dominika Mazur from Fundacja Spełnionych Marzeń. Our company sponsored the event and the children received Herbapol products. The staff of our Warsaw branch helped organise the event. They volunteered to support the Wrocław team.
